All about Argadell's

An historic old working sheep property with a magnificent homestead situated just 28 Kilometres north of Quorn on the Arden Vale Road. Nestled between Warren Gorge and Buckaringa Gorge this accommodation site offers some of the best scenery anywhere in the Flinders Ranges.

Argadells is a restored country homestead which offers self catering accommodation for up to eight people and the tranquility of a working farm environment in the heart of the Flinders Ranges.

From the homestead situated on top of a small hill the views are widespread with gum tree lined creeks and rocky ranges in the distance. Excellent camping areas are situated on the banks of the creek a little further along the private road running past the homestead.

Argadells Homestead

Guests can obtain permission to go bush-walking or 4WD motoring along the numerous private property access tracks. These tracks can lead you to some relatively unknown but magnificent scenery and views. Places where you will see the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby, Euros, wildflowers in season, huge sandstone formations and views for hundreds of kilometres.

Shearing time on Argadells

Each year three to four shearers and four or five shed hands will shear, class and bale the wool from approximately 3,000 sheep in this grand old wool-shed.

Shearing takes place approximately in August every year, for two weeks. This is a great time to be at 'Argadells', as you really get to be a part of shearing.

This shearing shed is nearly 100 years old and has been used to shear sheep every year since it was first built.
